Oscar Ployart plays piano inspired by both the legends of Black American music and his Scandinavian background. His goal is to create beautiful, warm and imaginative music that can energize and give meaning to people. He has toured all over Europe and is currently working on his jazz quintet debut release.

Born into a farming family in rural North Jutland, Denmark, Oscar was always captivated by music. After falling in love with the irresistible swing and energy of jazz improvisation he pursued music studies in Sweden and The Netherlands. His musical heroes include Bud Powell, Keith Jarrett and Charles Mingus.

Oscar is based in Amsterdam and is a sought after sideman. He has been fortunate to perform with great musicians like Seamus Blake, Jasper Blom, Gideon Tazelaar, Clemens van der Feen and Mayquel Gonzalez. He has performed on well known stages and festivals like TivoliVredenburg (NL), Bal Blomet (Paris), The Music Village (Brussels), Birdland (Hamburg), Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazz Festival, Havana Jazz Festival and Jazz au Chellah (Rabat). He is also a member of the successful swing band Roaring Cats.
